We aim to widen the range of quantum simulations with cold atoms, by investigating phenomena arising from the long-ranged dipolar interaction in reduced dimensionalities. We are operating a new experimental setup based on quantum gases of the highly magnetic Dysprosium atoms. This is a joint project between LENS and CNR-INO, Sezione di Pisa.

High-resolution spectroscopy of 162 Dy Rydberg levels

We carried out the first high-resolution spectroscopic survey of Rydberg levels in dysprosium (^{162}Dy), re-defining its first ionization threshold with unprecedented precision, identifying more than 700 Rydberg states and assigning most of them to eight Rydberg series. These results lay the groundwork for future Dy-based quantum architectures and represent the first published result from our new Florence Dy platform.
