The Yb-cavity team focuses on connecting single photons at telecom wavelengths with individual neutral ytterbium atoms confined in optical tweezers and strongly coupled to a Fabry-Perot cavity. By exploiting the unique characteristics of Ytterbium, such as the clock state and its telecom transitions, we aim to study quantum optics from foundations to practical applications.

Setting up the Yb-cavity lab

We are setting up the first lasers and furniture and we are waiting for the atomic source: it's starting to look like a lab!

Yasir started his PhD with us!

Yasir Mehmood has joined our group to pursue his PhD on atom-resonant entangled photon sources. Welcome and best of luck, Yasir!
