Yb atoms in optical tweezers make great qubits! We are building a novel quantum hardware platform based on neutral atoms trapped in reconfigurable optical tweezers. We have chosen Yb atoms due to long coherence time, great tunability and addressability as well as a rich Rydberg structure for implementing multi-qubit quantum gates. Our platform will open up new opportunities to explore novel routes towards fault-tolerant quantum computation.

Blue Yb MOT!

We have achieved a blue MOT of 174Yb atoms! Due to service jobs being done to our 556 nm green laser, we have decided to get the setup ready for a blue MOT instead. Once our green laser will be operational again, we’ll steer towards making a green MOT directly, through the aid of a blue crossed-slowing stage.
